I have the best Nordstrom Anniversary Sale items all picked out for you. The fashion event of the season (or at least July) is here, it’s time to get to work.
This review is focused on how this sale can help you build out your capsule wardrobe. I divide my findings into capsule wardrobe categories of essential elements (blazer, skirt, blouse, jeans, etc). I hope this helps with shopping overwhelm.

This year the sale feels really different to me. Between the high number of repeat items from last year, to the skew towards grunge wear, it’s not the same vibe it used to be.
While there are a lot of items as a part of the sale, there were not a ton of items that I loved.
But, the show must go on, so I focused on basics for your capsule wardrobe essentials and a few statement pieces to add some flair to your outfits. After some heavy digging, I’ve found really lovely items.
Some of these items are investment pieces, and others are an inexpensive way to get in on a trend. Things are broken down by category to make it more digestible and so you can go to the area where you have gaps to fill in your closet.

The best pants from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
From work to casual, these pants will get you to where you want to be.The merlot color pants are perfect for the fall season. While the olive cords give you a casual weekend cool look. Looking to brighten up your days at the office or lunch with the ladies? Check out the pink pants (which when paired with the pink blazer below create a whole pink suit). And who doesn’t love a classic slack in a neutral camel, throw in the wide leg and you gotta have them. There is a little something for every place you need to be.
Shirts
These are mostly basics and neutral but with unique twists. Eyelet, merlot color with ruffle details, puffed sleeves, an asymmetrical neckline, or a simple silk sleeveless with a twisted neck. These basics will blend with everything, but stand out on their own when needed.
White t-shirts
A classic basic, these were my favorite options. Check out the deep back on the second shirt. It’s a fun twist on a classic piece.
Blazers
Not too many caught my attention this year, but these three are beautiful. The stand out for me is the pink one, which as I mentioned pairs with the pink pants for a whole suit. Who doesn’t want a pink suit?? But a checked option and the classic olive, both double breasted are pieces you can wear all season long.
The best denim at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
What I love about the denim trends right now, is that there is a lot of variety. If you’re ready to try a new denim silhouette this is your chance. Flares, bootlegs, cropped, wide leg—there are a lot of options here at great prices.
Sweaters
My favorite fall and winter garment is a sweater. I chose a few different styles, materials, and colors. For a sporty every day look the striped with the zipper cannot be beat. The elegant wrap sweater has a different silhouette than most and would be great for the office, casual or lounging. A pop of color with the burgundy tipped sweater is a great addition to any wardrobe. Possibly my favorite of the bunch, the white crew sweater. A great basic. A fun rainbow stripes and a bold blue v-neck pullover round out the selection.
Coats and Jackets
The camel wrap coat is stunning. If you need a new long coat, check this one out. It also comes in navy. The two leather jackets are to die for, especially the blue one. And of course, a new puffer that is also water-resistant. I need to see the mixed material option, but thought it was intriguing enough to include here.
Dresses
You know I love a good dress, these do not disappoint. I love the ribbed knit polo dress and the orange sweater dress. The shorter black and burgundy dresses are darling and would easily go from day to night. And I love the vibrant floral option for fall.
Workout wear
This is a great time to stock up on workout wear. From jog bras to sweatshirts and a one-piece that you can lounge or do yoga in, there are some fun things to freshen up your athleisure wear. Many of these are by Sweaty Betty. It’s a great brand, made of high quality materials that hold you in place. But it is pricy. This is a great time to stock up, or try this brand for the first time.
Lingerie that is only on sale during Nordstrom Anniversary
Natori how do I love thee, let me count the ways. I own and love all of the bras and underwear shown here. I stock up on these underwear each year. They are 100% cotton (except for the lace trim) and are so comfortable. I’m eyeing these silk pajamas too. I have another brand of silk PJs that I love, but this price is hard to pass up.
Purses
If you need a new purse, this sale is a great time to purchase one. I picked out some great basics as well as a fun clutch by Cult Gaia and a belt bag from Clare V. If you’ve been eyeing a belt bag, grab one of these to get in on the trend.
Shoes
This used to be the sale where I purchased all of my shoes for the season. I was pretty disappointed with the options this year. What I found were a few basics, that are cute, but no statement pieces. Solid buys at good prices if you need flats, loafers, or tall boots. The loafers come in a bunch of colors (I’m eyeing the Putty and Navy) and Donald Pliner is a comfort shoe, which is an added bonus.
Beauty products at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I’ve been wanting to try Westmont Atelier, and now is my chance. There is a lip gloss and blush/contouring set to choose from. The Osea bundle is a great non-toxic product and this bundle is a great way to sample the brand. The price of the Sturm items is amazing. This stuff is expensive but effective, so if you’re interested grab some while it’s on sale. Which never happens for this product.
Be sure to check your Nordstrom status so you know when you can shop. Make your wishlist now (the preview is live) so that all you have to do on your shopping day is move the items to the cart and click purchase.
And remember, things sell out fast, so don’t delay. You can always return if something doesn’t work out.
