This post shares some great last minute holiday outfits that you can purchase or recreate from your own closet.

If you’re still trying to figure out what to wear to the school Christmas performance, a holiday cocktail party you’re invited to, or any other holiday event, including the holiday itself, you’re not alone.
There are lots of us out here still trying to decide what to wear to the various events. Perhaps you keep putting it off (or is that just me?). But time is running out. The holidays are now. I ran a previous post about holiday outfits for women over 50, if you missed it, go check it out. But I felt like a refresher was needed, so I pulled together some last-minute holiday outfits for you.
These are items that are still in stock and can get to you in time. You can also use these outfits as inspiration to shop your closet. Find something similar and put it all together so that on the day of your various events, you have one less thing to do.
I know time is short, so let’s jump right in.

Holiday skirt and sweater
This is such an easy look to pull together. It’s my favorite thing to make one of these items (skirt or sweater) the statement piece of your outfit. The rest of your outfit can fade away to the background, which means you can use your basics.

The emerald green velvet skirt is drop-dead gorgeous. I’d keep everything else simple, and in neutral colors. Let the skirt shine on this one. The long skirt makes this a retro-classic look. This skirt also come in a hot pink. It’s as beautiful as the green velvet and can be worn all year long.

The puff sleeve sweater with crystal buttons is so simple and pretty. The brocade black and silver skirt is fun and the two look perfect together. You could wear this sweater all winter long with jeans, pants, or other skirts or as an open cardigan over a dress.

A black cashmere tank with a ruffled tartan plaid midi skirt is such a fun holiday look. Add gold pave earrings and black velvet open toe shoes and you’re off to the cocktail party. You could add the matching cashmere cardigan, or wear a crew neck sweater for a more cozy look. Try a sequins top or silk blouse with this. You can dress this up or down, but this skirt is the perfect holiday garment.
Dresses for your last minute holiday outfits
Nothing is easier than throwing on a dress and calling it good. These few are easy on the eyes and the pocketbook.

This long sequin dress is so pretty. It’s subtle and sparkly and festive all at once. It looks so easy to wear and you need nothing else except perhaps a pair of simple gold earrings and sandals in black or gold. Top this with faux fur and wear it all winter and holiday season long.

The green corduroy dress has a subtle floral pattern to it. While the color is very holiday, you can still wear this through the winter. Pair it with boots or tights and mary janes and head to your friend holiday lunch or work holiday party.

The tartan plaid dress is darling. This traditional pattern is hard to wear any other time of year, so grab it now and wear it all the places you go. Check out the sparkly heels on the Mary Jane’s to match the crystals on your ears. The unique style of this dress makes it modern and anything but frumpy.
Holiday jeans
Jeans make your holiday look attainable. Get a dark wash with no distressing, add a fun bold top and call your holiday look done. Here are a few party tops to choose from.

The teal sweater with puffy sleeves and fluffy details is so good. My sister has this in white and it’s always a topic of conversation when she wears it. Strangers comment on it, people touch it, my dog Bruno is jealous of it (he thinks it’s competition in the fluffy and cute department). This shirt takes on a life of its own, in the best way possible. This is a great color and festive for the holidays. This is perfect for events at your kids’ school, mom’s night out, or a cocktail gathering. I added a bit of shimmer with the boots to pop out from the flared jeans.

What supermom doesn’t need a sequin cape??? This is the perfect throw-on over jeans and a t-shirt to take your look to holiday party levels. The cape would go with so many things and over pants, dresses, skirts—everything. It’s an easy way to dress up your basics and an excellent festive touch.

A sweater with pops of red and pink makes a great holiday outfit. Throw this on with a pair of jeans, some Rhinestone earrings like these bows and grab a pretty clutch. You can dress this up or down with shoes and accessories. And the sweater can be worn until spring arrives.
Other last minute holiday outfit touches
If you can’t find something to wear, remember that jewelry, makeup, and hair accessories can add that festive touch to your plain old black dress, jeans, and a t-shirt, or black pants and a white shirt. If you’re really stuck, start with these basics and then add in the fun with the items mentioned above.
