Like many things this season, summer athleisure wear is bold and colorful.
Fun pops of colors. Head to toe in one color. Color blocking. You name it, it’s happening.
It’s a great way to get motivated to get up and moving, and it’s fun to look at. My issue is sometimes I don’t like wearing bold colors in my exercise wear. I’m a classic black person.
But if style calls and it’s saying dress in bold colors for your workout, I’m in.
Plus after these past two years, we all need some color in our lives.
These clothes will also take you from the tennis court to the grocery store; to the gym to meet a friend for coffee. They are clothes you can wear all day long, and feel good about it, comfortable and cool in the summer heat.
Let’s jump into my favorite athleisure outfits for summer 2022.
The exercise dress
You know how I love a good dress, but the sports dress is newish to me. It’s such a fun way to be active, feel pulled together, and feminine all at the same time. The built-in shorts allow you to be active without flashing the goods. This is a fun and quick way to head out the door for an active day. The polka dot dress is a playful take on the exercise dress, if it’s not for you this comes in 12 other color options.

Shorts for summer athleisure outfits
The classic workout item, shorts are even more popular in the warmer months. Swap out your legging for a pair of these shorts for a run, hike, or walk with a friend. If you lift weights, shorts are a great summer option. These are also a great option for heading to the pool or running around town.

The skort/skirt
This is such a fun addition to your summer athleisure wear. These go way beyond the tennis courts. I wear mine for hiking and walking. A woman in my pilates class had one on the other day, and I’ve seen women lifting weights in them. Feminine and functional at the same time. The matching skort and tank make this look like a dress. Great option if a dress isn’t your thing, but you like the simplicity of one.

Leggings
The OG athleisure wear and something you may have been living in for the past couple of years. They are still the workhorse of workout wear, so sometimes you need a fresh look for a new season. Bold pops of color, fun patterns and color blocking give you that summer vibe in your workout wear.

Tops for workout wear
Tank tops and t-shirts are great for exercise. They offer coverage but aren’t tight. A tank top or t-shirt is a great option to add color to your summer athleisure if you opt for black bottoms. I own a version of the cropped t-shirt, and I love it. I sized up to eliminate the crop. It’s great for hiking and walks when I want extra coverage from the sun, it’s wicking material and has an elevated look.

Sweatshirts for to and from exercise
A sweatshirt in the summer? I know it sounds weird, but you need one. These take you to/from the studio or gym. Provide coverage if you have an errand to run. You can wear the few below with all your summer staples so they are versatile. The white one is so cute. It’s boxy but you can cinch it as much as you’d like at the waist. It also has matching shorts and comes in two other colors.

So there you have some of the best summer athleisure outfits on the internet. You can copy these looks from what you have in your own closet and fill in gaps as needed with the links to shop above.
